My Electric Car – 2. The Test Drive

Electric Car Test Drive
Electric Car Test Drive

We had to book the test drive in advance with a Nissan dealer. After waiting quite a bit at the dealership, the car finally arrived for the test drive! It was gorgeous, brand new, still covered with plastic! Because it was an upgraded model, it came with leather seats and navigation system.

I was the first one to drive. We brought the whole family, plus the salesman. Everyone sat comfortably at the back seat, which was a bit raised, so all the passengers could enjoy the front view as well!

Surprisingly, the car was more responsive than I thought! It accelerated well and had no problem keeping the speed – even with all the weight in the back! My husband drove it in the highway and again, it was very responsive! We couldn’t feel much difference between driving a “normal” car and an EV – except that it was VERY quiet!

The range of a Nissan Leaf is about 215Km, without taking into account the topography, air conditioning, etc. Every little thing makes a difference in an electric car! I guess I will have to learn how to drive economically, and to plan ahead – so that I don’t get stuck in the middle of the road!

In my next post, I will write about the purchase. See you then!

    • Thank you! Glad you liked it! There is a newer Nissan Leaf model which range goes up to about 240 Km, and Nissan is about to launch another model that goes even further – 360 Km!
